Full Job Description
The Nurse Administrator, Nursing Optimization Division, provides strategic and operational leadership for workforce optimization, staffing, scheduling, and capacity management across the Rochester, Minnesota campus. This role oversees a broad portfolio of teams and services essential to daily hospital operations, including Department of Nursing float resources, Scheduling Representatives, the Central Staffing Office, House Supervisors, Virtual Monitoring, Nursing Placement Office, Support Service Coordinators, Administrative Assistants, and Premium Inpatient Suites. This leader advances workforce management strategies and optimizes staffing resources to support patient care delivery across a complex academic medical center. The role provides oversight of key workforce management technologies, including UKG and LeanTaaS Predictive Staffing, and serves as a standing member of the Rochester Hospital Operations Command Center (RHOCC). Working in close partnership with nursing, physician, and administrative leaders, the Nurse Administrator helps align people, processes, and technology to support patient flow, operational efficiency, workforce optimization, and high-quality patient care. The nurse administrator is responsible for the overall management and coordination of functions within a division of Nursing. The nurse administrator is accountable for managing within the context of the organization as a whole and transforming organizational values into daily operations that yield an efficient, effective, and caring organization. This includes oversight of designated clinical nursing practice and management of evidence-based programs, systems, and services that support nursing practice. Responsibilities are accomplished in alignment with Mayo Clinic and the Department of Nursing's vision, mission, and values. The nurse administrator develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates policies, programs, and services related to assigned functions, while assessing the environment, forecasting trends, communicating ideas, coaching and mentoring others, managing resources, and ensuring core values are reflected in practice. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification. QUALIFICATIONS * Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing, or a bachelor's degree in nursing with a master’s degree in business or a health-related field. * Doctoral Degree – DNP or PhD in Nursing preferred. * Will consider applicants meeting all other qualifications who commit to degree completion within six months from application date. * Candidates who meet the baccalaureate degree in nursing requirement but have not yet obtained a master’s or doctorate degree may be considered for an interim role. * A minimum of three years in nursing service administration with management responsibilities and previous experience in a clinical practice role is required. License and Certifications: * Current RN license by applicable state requirements. * Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
