Department Overview Our care traffic control center (CTCC) is at the heart of the Children’s Minnesota organization overseeing the operations of each hospital dispersed between three campuses. Our staff includes dedicated hospital nursing supervisors and staffing office personnel who work closely together as we continuously monitor each hospital’s unit activity and staffing needs while maintaining the organizational core value of putting “kids first.” The CTCC department provides a distinctive opportunity for team members to lead through collaboration with each unit in prioritizing patient flow, triaging operational issues or clinical staffing areas of concern, and organizing overall daily staffing resources within one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States. Position Summary The Hospital Nursing Supervisor (HNS) is a registered nurse who functions in both the campus-based Hospital Nursing Supervisor (HNS) and system-based Bed Planner roles to support hospital operations and patient flow across Children's Minnesota campuses. This position provides real-time coordination of hospital operations, staffing, patient placement, and transfer activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely patient care delivery across the system. Team members are expected to rotate between HNS and Bed Planner responsibilities and float between Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, maintaining a global view of hospital capacity, patient flow, and operational priorities. On-call participation is required. The Hospital Nursing Supervisor collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure clear communication, rapid decision-making, and alignment of patient placement with staffing and operational realities. Yes License/Certification/Registration: *Registered Nurse MN in good standing required *Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required *CPI or Behavioral Health Care & Personal Safety Course within 6 months of hire Education: *Bachelor of Science or higher preferred Experience: *3-5 years recent clinical experience as an RN in a hospital setting *Preference for leadership experience in the form of Charge RN, Clinical Educator, or similar roles *Experience working in dynamic, high-acuity environments preferred *Experience working with electronic health record systems. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.
