School Nurse

Job Details: Job Location: ST STEPHEN UTICA - Utica, PA, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 2 Year Degree, Salary Range: $23.21 - $32.72Hourly, Job Category: Nurse, Glade Run Academy's School Nurse may be eligible for up to a $2,500 new hire incentive bonus if hired and meets all qualifications. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a Registered Nurse or have a School Nurse PK-12 certification. One year of psychiatric experience recommended. Exceptional knowledge, accuracy, and skills of computer and/or software including: Google platform, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Complete and pass agency crisis/physical intervention training. Strong organization and written/oral communication skills. Knowledge of records maintenance and handling client files. Must have physical dexterity in order to assist in client/student physical interventions when necessary. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Ability to identify with the Agency Mission Statement and support the agency’s Core Values. Must have acceptable PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, FBI clearance, Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form and Act 168 Forms. CORE COMPETENCIES: 1. Provide support to and work collaboratively with the Education Leadership Team to maintain compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures and assure its needs are met including but not limited to transportation, supplies (ordering and tracking inventory), routine preventive maintenance and emergency service. 2. Oversee accurate recording and tracking of student attendance. 3. Administer all medications as per physician's orders while on duty. a. Document all medication administration. b. Monitor all medication administration documentation. c. Monitor and maintain standards of medication storage and administration. d. Monitor students for medication side effects. e. Maintain ongoing communication with all staff regarding changes in medication orders. f. Monitor and care for day students. g. Monitor audio/visual screening for students. 4. Providing information and services in school health related areas: a. Promotion of health education and health practices. b. Assessment of community and school health needs. c. Physical and mental health assessment of children and youth. d. Development, management, and evaluation of the school health program. e. Prevention, identification, and control of communicable diseases. f. Counseling techniques, referral, and health care management of children and youth. g. Case management of health needs of children and youth. h. Competence in dealing with health related issues of diverse populations. i. Child and adolescent development. 5. Recognizing symptoms and consequences of safety and environmental factors: a. Child abuse b. Substance abuse c. Teenage pregnancy d. Violence e. Homelessness and poverty f. Emergency response and crisis intervention planning g. Safe and healthy school environment 6. Regulatory, ethical and professional issues and responsibilities governing the provision of health care services in the school including: a. Federal, state and local laws and regulations which impact children and youth, b. Pennsylvania State Professional Nurse Law. c. Pennsylvania school code and regulations. d. American Nursing Association/National Association of School Nurses code of ethics. e. Privacy and confidentiality. f. Child and parental rights. g. Be familiar with agency’s Policies and Procedures and function within the directives provided. 7. Serve as receptionist when not needed for students' medical needs. Greet visitors and control admittance to school via security system. 8. Oversee equipment inventory. Oversee inventory and ordering of all janitorial, kitchen and office supplies. 9. Organize food service for the school, including the inventory, the ordering of food supplies from Nutritional Services, and coordinate the receiving and serving of lunches received from the outside vendor. 10. Manage completion of office tasks, typing, filing, faxing, scheduling and records. 11. Work collaboratively with other departments to support the Education Department.
