School Nurse

School Nurse Location: Willie Jeffries School Of Excellence Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: Principal Position Overview: The School Nurse is responsible for providing healthcare services to students and staff. This role involves administering medications, managing chronic health conditions, and providing emergency care as needed. Key Responsibilities: * Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff. * Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records of medication administration. * Monitor and track students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes). * Provide health education to students and staff on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and illness prevention. * Coordinate with parents and medical professionals to address students’ health needs. * Ensure compliance with all state and federal health regulations. * Maintain student health records and confidentiality. * Participate in health screenings and immunization tracking. * Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid South Carolina nursing license. * Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to handle medical emergencies effectively. * Knowledge of state and federal health regulations for schools. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
