Full Job Description

American Heritage Schools- Palm Beach County is currently accepting applications for School Nurse. Working hours: 7:30 am - 6 pm with a 4 day work week schedule.  POSITION OVERVIEW  The Nurse is responsible for assessing, treating, and direct care of the students, campers and school employees for medical issues. The Nurse will work to prevent and control illnesses so that students/campers can learn to their greatest potential. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  * Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students and campers  * Responsible for disease prevention * Provides emergency aid to students, campers and school employees * Develop care plans for students with ongoing conditions, based on physician orders * Administer over-the-counter and prescription medication * Monitor student and, campers for side effects or reactions * Documents all medication administered, symptoms, reason for visit, etc. * Ensure maintenance of health records such as immunizations and school entry health examinations * Coordinate the submission of every student camper and staff medical records to meet minimum health standards * Communicates with student/campers parents regarding reasons for visit, medications, etc. * Field trip medical bag preparation * Employee accidents (workers compensation) follow-up with proper medical paperwork * Issue elevator passes and coordinate transportation for student/campers in need of medical accommodations SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  * Assists the teachers in instructing students in health education * Provide nursing coverage for occasional events on campus outside normal school/camp hours * Attend school field trips as needed for nursing support for student/campers.
