JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY:   The Registered Dietitian (RD) provides part-time and/or remote nutrition services to support adult clients in the Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry and Residential Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Programs. This role assures nutrition screening, assessment, education, care planning support, meal planning, and coordination with the interdisciplinary treatment team to promote recovery, stabilization, and overall wellness. The RD ensures services are evidence-based, individualized, culturally responsive, and compliant with applicable federal and District regulations. This position also supports menu review, nutrition-related policies, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED * REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST (RDN/RD) CREDENTIAL (ACTIVE AND IN GOOD STANDING). * LICENSED/ELIGIBLE TO PRACTICE IN WASHINGTON, DC (OR ABLE TO OBTAIN DC LICENSURE AS REQUIRED). * MINIMUM 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PROVIDING NUTRITION COUNSELING OR CLINICAL NUTRITION SERVICES (BEHAVIORAL HEALTH EXPERIENCE PREFERRED). * KNOWLEDGE OF EVIDENCE-BASED NUTRITION INTERVENTIONS AND COUNSELING APPROACHES. * STRONG WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. * PROFICIENCY WITH VIRTUAL PLATFORMS (ZOOM/TEAMS) AND BASIC COMPUTER APPLICATIONS. PREFERRED * EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH: * SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS * CO-OCCURRING MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS * FOOD INSECURITY AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE NAVIGATION * CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT IN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SETTINGS * GERIATRICS * EXPERIENCE DOCUMENTING IN EMR SYSTEMS (E.G., CREDIBLE,ECLINICALWORKS OR SIMILAR). * FAMILIARITY WITH TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE, MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING, AND CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE CARE. * KNOWLEDGE OF HIPAA AND 42 CFR PART 2 PRIVACY STANDARDS. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Nutrition Services & Clinical Support * Conduct or review nutrition screenings and assessments for clients as appropriate for level of care and program needs. * Provide individualized nutrition counseling and education related to: * Recovery nutrition and stabilization * Disordered eating patterns and appetite regulation * Weight changes during recovery * Food insecurity and meal planning skills * Chronic disease nutrition support (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) * Vitamin/mineral repletion and hydration education (as within scope) * Collaborate with medical, nursing, and clinical staff to support integrated treatment planning and discharge planning. * Provide documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in accordance with program standards and timelines. Program Collaboration & Care Coordination * Coordinate with meal preparation and delivery services to assure seamless, safe, and appropriate meals for all residents and patients. * Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings (virtually or onsite as needed) to support coordinated care. * Communicate nutrition-related risks and recommendations to the treatment team, including escalation when medically indicated. * Support referrals and coordination with community-based nutrition and primary care resources when needed. * Menu Review & Nutrition Education * Review menus and meal patterns for nutritional adequacy and alignment with program goals and client needs. * Provide group education information on topics such as: * Balanced meals in recovery * Managing cravings and blood sugar swings * Nutrition for sleep, mood, and energy * Grocery budgeting and meal planning basics Compliance & Quality Improvement * Ensure services are delivered in compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations. * Support program quality improvement initiatives related to nutrition services, documentation, and client outcomes. * Maintain professional licensure and continuing education requirements. * Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with licensure and scope of practice.   COMPETENCIES: 1.
