About the Role The RN Charge Nurse will be responsible for managing all aspects of nursing responsibility during each shift, from processing patients in and out to delegating nursing assignments and monitoring medication administration. POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manage the nursing care for all patients in the In-Patient Unit during your shift. * Recognize changes in patients’ condition and respond appropriately. * Supervise CNAs as they complete their assigned tasks and point out any changes or improvements that need to be made. * Detect any issues that could result in injuries or other difficulties for patients or staff members. * Works with staff members who need assistance in decision making to improve their performance. * Provides input to the nursing staff evaluations as requested by the Director of In-Patient Services. * Shares and demonstrates current information/techniques as related to nursing practice. * Assumes a leadership role in the provision of quality nursing care for patients receiving services within the department. * Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of nursing care provided. * Supervises unit personnel to assure maximum productivity and quality of patient care. * Provide on-call coverage as requested. * Acts as liaison between In-Patient staff and other facility departments. * Performs and records admission/physical assessment, according to policy. * Interprets the patient’s condition and abnormal findings, communicating information in a timely manner to the physician. * Identifies the patient’s problems and initiates the appropriate care, planning the appropriate nursing interventions. * Assists physicians with patient rounds, examinations or procedures as needed. * Administers and documents medications, both scheduled and prn, in a timely manner, without error. * Identifies clinical issues and seeks collaboration for resolution as needed. * Complies with policies and procedures relating to infection control for self, patients, visitors, and staff. * Assist Direct of Inpatient as needed with Collecting data for monthly and quarterly reports. * Education of staff as needed with guidance from the Director of Inpatient. * Follows facility Occurrence Reporting Process. * Supports the overall departments and directors’ goals. Completes required orientation as directed by facility. * Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment. * Respects cultural and religious practices of patients. * Upholds HIPAA regulations. * Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts. * All other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * Current nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board. * Minimum of one (1) year in charge nursing role, preferred. * Minimum of four (4) years in a hospital setting, preferred. * Current and active CPR certification. * Previous Supervisory experience preferred.
